The Pineapple Villas
... Condominium complex in French Harbour is home to two newly opened island hot spots, the Pineapple Grill and Steakhouse and Herby's Sports Bar and Grill.
Situated on the top floor, Herby's Sports Bar and Grill is a happening American style meeting place with the emphasis on not only sports but fun.
Surrounded by jungle with the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea sparkling in the distance and the sparkling blue water of the pool area directly below, it's difficult to know where to look first.
We arrived on the early side for lunch on a Monday expecting a small turnout at the newly opened eatery but were amazed at the number of patrons arriving.
“Have you eaten here before? Do you live here at Pineapple Villas? ” I asked a couple that we recognized as I passed their table.
She Says:
“Oh yes, many times, we love the food. No we don't live here but we might as well move here, we eat here so often.
The location is great. We see friends from the both east end, just a short 20 minute drive from here as well as the West End.
The a/c is a refreshing change and the food is fantastic. The menu offers pub grub type choices such as nachos, wings, pizza and fish and chips as well as salads and wraps”.
He Says:
“Herby's claims, Any day, any game, if it's on TV we have it'! 32 LCD T.V.s, tuned to every sport imaginable makes me feel like a kid in a candy store”.
Situated one floor down from Herby's, the Pineapple Grill also offers a choice of air conditioned indoor seating or an outdoor patio with a view of the tropical paradise below.
Monday is Movie night at the Pineapple Grill. A weekly dinner special is served each Monday followed by a weekly feature shown on a 12 foot screen with HD projection and surround sound.
Breakfast is served at the Pineapple Grill from 7-10 am. Several American choices are offered as well as a typico (island style) breakfast. We were not overly impressed with the breakfast. The pancakes, at $7.99 consisted of three small pancakes served on top of each other on a small side plate, without bacon or any meat choice and were barely edible. It was literally impossible to add syrup without requesting a larger plate.
For dinner, prices for Legendary Steaks range from $20.99 for an 8 oz. Tenderloin Filet or a 14 oz. Strip Loin to $27.99 for a 20 oz. Porterhouse. Sides are extra. A half back order of ribs is available for $8.99 and a full back order for $18.99.
There are 4 appetizers, 2 soups and 5 salads to choose from on the dinner menu. A note at the bottom of the menu describes the choices as introductory with the promise of additional choices of prime rib, shrimp scampi, lamb, chicken cordon blue, great pastas and additional sides and appetizers to follow soon. |
