CRUISE TERMINAL IN ROATAN, HONDURAS
Carnival Corporation & PLC (NYSE/LSE: CCL; NYSE: CUK) signed an agreement to build and operate a new cruise terminal on the island of Roatan, Honduras.
Called "Mahogany Bay – Roatan", construction is expected to start in fall 2007 and be completed by summer 2009 at a cost of $50 million.
The cruise facility will be situated on 20 acres on the Roatan waterfront and will consist of a two-berth cruise terminal capable of accommodating super post-Panamax vessels and up to 7,000 passengers daily. Read more >>

Wall Street Journal
The August 18-19 Weekend Edition of the Wall Street Journal named
Honduras and particularly Roatan as the NUMBER 1 of ten contenders
for the next Hot Spot travel destination of the world. The newspaper asked a small group of travel experts to predict 10 new Hot Spots in the coming years. The well respected daily financial journal called Honduras a "cutting edge" Costa Rica. It highlighted Roatan's "protected reef" and hikes through the jungle and watching "Jesus lizards" that appear to walk on water.
The Journal however, did caution travelers to watch for the "Cruise Crowd" as Carnival is building a terminal to handle as many as 7,000 passengers a day. All and all the article is priceless publicity for Roatan from a world-wide newspaper known for its accuracy and avoidance of hype. Cheap Flights to Roatan
New flights added and round-trip prices as low as $620 on Taca Airlines. For those with more time than money Spirit Air is offering inexpensive flights to the mainland of Honduras, connecting to Roatàn. Around $420, plus $85, the cost of connection from the main land to Roatan. They are flying out of Ft. Lauderdale.
- Taca Airlines flies here every day from Miami. Sunday is the best, it's a direct flight.
- Continental flies out of Houston on Saturdays and Sundays. Newark on Saturdays.
- Delta from Atlanta on Saturdays.
