Where is Coxen Hole?
Coxen Hole is on the western side and the south shore of the island of Roatan, the largest of the three islands of the Bay Islands of Honduras in the Caribbean, about 40 miles north of the mainland. It is the island’s largest city and, founded in 1835, is among the oldest communities on Roatan.

Where can I stay?
Hotels include Las Palmas, Airport Inn, and Ocean View Hotel. There are numerous nearby home rental options.

Things to do?
Mayan Eden offers encounters with several Central American animals, such as sloths, monkeys and toucans. One of the two cruise ports on the island is located in Coxen Hole and on cruise days, especially Tuesdays and Wednesdays, traffic in downtown Coxen Hole can be crowded.

Where do I eat?
Numerous restaurants line the oceanfront near the cruise port, such as Fort Consolation which offers island fare and seafood options. On the Carretera Principal there is a food court that features fast food options and near the airport Macaw Market is a food court that features burgers, pizza and a wine bar, along with Prime 504, an upscale steak house.

How do I get around?
Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport is located just east of downtown Coxen Hole. Taxis are plentiful and cheap. Just raise your hand and one will stop for you.
